Guide – First-time Prosthetics
Patient Checklist – 7 Steps
Start slowly: for the first few days, wear it for 30–60 minutes at a time and increase gradually.
Use compression: when not wearing your prosthesis, use a compression stocking or liner.
Check your skin daily for redness, blisters, or sores. Redness lasting up to 30 minutes is normal.
Learn to bear weight correctly: stand with equal weight on both legs, do not avoid using the prosthesis.
Stay active: a little movement is better than none at all.
Communicate problems: where, when, and how it hurts.
Be patient: getting used to it takes time.
